Despite some disappointments from Crisis Caverns, I think we can all agree that the island had beautiful scenes. Taking inspiration from those scenes, this drawing excellently uses lighting to its advantage. Stunning shading and a very cool color scheme. Everything gives off an intense, motivated vibe. Another piece that captures the beauty of Crisis Caverns Island very well. The bright, glowing crystals easily captivate the eye and make it hard to look away. Though the entire drawing is fairly simple, it makes for a crazy cool background and expresses a great use of geometric shapes. The lighting and pink tone in my opinion are just great. Meeting Poptropica World’s Happy Sun by TechnoBunny16

Yep, it’s what we all first saw when Poptropica Worlds was announced… fingers. A simple figure drawing, yes, but a very accurate portrayal of what our original Poptropicans would feel upon meeting their new counter-parts. We all had to give up on some key parts of our old outfits, but that doesn’t mean our new characters can’t have just as cute of a design! Humorous and adorable. Find her DeviantArt here.

Who Spilled the Bleach? by Jellow McFellow

Okay, I couldn’t not include this piece, because it’s just too relateable. With Poptropica Worlds’ release, many, many glitches were released along side it. Including one in particular now widely known as Bleachy Boy, where all of a Poptropican’s clothes and color disappear. The situation in the drawing is hilarious and it provides a feeling that lots of us are all too familiar with. Well done, haha! Find his DeviantArt here.

July: How do I Participate?

Community Creations is a cool series for anyone in the Poptropica community to join in on. To sum up what it’s about, it’s basically a chance to show off your artwork, creepy fan-fic, realms, costumes, and anything else that pops into your mind.

If we really like the piece you submit, we will feature it here on the PHB! As long as it relates to that month’s theme. So what is July’s theme? July’s theme is…

Literature!

We tend to mainly get visual art submissions, but remember that this series embraces all forms of creativity! So, I wanted to provide a month that focuses the spotlight on other media. That being said, visual art is still welcomed this month!

Ever wanted to cross over Poptropica with your favorite book series? Now’s your chance! Ever want to see a Harry Potter or Hunger Games Island? Make it yourself!

Any and all written work will be accepted this month, no matter the theme of it. Just has to be Poptropica related as usual! Poetry, songs, fan-fic, etc. are included. But if you’re not much of a writer, don’t worry! Just make your piece relate to a famous novel, comic, poet, etc. Make sense? You can even make a book character into a Poptropica costume if your heart desires!

Hello once again Poptropicans! Spotted Dragon here with the second installment of our new Pop Petitions series! We received a lot of feedback on our last petition post and I’m thrilled to see not only all the support expressed for this series but also to be hearing all of your shared concerns.

If you aren’t familiar with this series, it is basically a compilation of what the PHB authors and community want to see happen in Poptropica.

No one is fully adjusted to Poptropica Worlds yet and with all the changes it brought with it, there is no way we could fit all of our thoughts in just one post. I mean, we’ve already made more than our fair share of reviews on the subject. Anyway, this will serve as a continuation of our last petition, so let’s just jump in!

#1: Imported Outfits

I have a sneaking feeling that your eyes might have lit up when first reading the title of this section. We all miss our old Poptropican’s outfit, especially those of us who have an iconic look. When Poptropica Worlds was first announced, we were reassured that our accounts could be imported, but recently we realized that did not include our old costumes.

Granted, it’s obviously not a surprise that we lost our old style. It would be a big stretch to assume that each bit of clothing we know and love would get revamped for Pop Worlds, but that doesn’t lessen our loss. Everyone still wants their old clothes back, but the Creators have said that that will not be happening.

It was a long shot to hope for direct transportation of our original designs, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for at least more costumes to purchase. Specifically, more costumes with clothing that’s as similar as possible to a lot of original Poptropica looks. Even more specifically, more costumes that are available to everyone and not only members. I mean… I just want my blue hoodie back guys.

#2: Interaction

When it comes down to it, Poptropica is a game. More on that, Poptropica Worlds is supposed to be better than the original, right? And that means improved game-play. This not only means better interaction in our quests, but better interaction in average scenes as well.

I think we all know that Crisis Caverns Island was lacking in some categories, but we go into more detail on that in our review. However, I do need to bring up the fact that the quest had very minimal elements of interaction. There were lots of things that looked like platforms that actually couldn’t be jumped onto for example.

I’m not only talking about limitations in exploration, but simple fun features too. I think it would be much more interesting to have things in our houses that we can actually use for instance. Wouldn’t it be cool to be able to flip through TV channels (I’d love to watch some Bucky Lucas clips), or serve yourself some ice cream, or play pong on your computer, or design your own posters, or anything like that? Even hidden Easter eggs like the old Hypnotic Costume can spark interest. Little things like this can be what really make a game unique and while it’s not a necessity, I think it would enhance Poptropica World’s whole experience.

#3: Glitch Improvement

No, calm down glitching community, I don’t mean to take away your fun. Actually, I’m talking about fixing all the unwanted glitches. Of course it is inevitable for a game still in progress to have a multitude of problems, but there are some big ones that I think need addressing as soon as possible.

Yes, we are all familiar with the “Bleachy Boy” glitch by now, but that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Many other problems have been reported, spanning from flying through walls to disappearing items. Some of these problems have quick fixes, like just refreshing the page, but others have stopped players from completing Crisis Caverns indefinitely and have made simply enjoying the game impossible.

I’m sure it’s only a matter of time until a majority of these problems get fixed, but at the moment it is causing a big hassle for just about everyone. Not only is glitching a big dilemma, but so is lag and poor game response in general. Not that all this isn’t new, but eliminating stuff like this would improve the whole experience tremendously.

#4: Islands

This one is no surprise. In fact, it is guaranteed that Poptropica World’s has more islands in its future, since it wouldn’t be Poptropica without them. I can’t stress enough that I understand Pop Worlds is still new and so still has a long way to go. We aren’t expecting new islands immediately, but it’s still something to look forward to.

Similar to importing our old costumes, I’m sure we’d all love to see some of our old favorite islands get added to this new world. Another big dream, I know, but still a nice thought. While original Poptropica is still up, it’s in the shadow of Pop Worlds now and we simply don’t want to see our old adventures fade away.

Islands and their story lines take up the majority of Poptropica’s game play. With nothing left to do in game, players tend to quickly get bored and that is what leads to the game being forgotten. New islands can’t be pumped out each week, but the countdown to new releases is something we all get excited for.

#5: Costume Closet

This one shouldn’t be a big surprise either. It ties into us wanting more customizing options as well as us wanting the Friends page back. While “saving up to 30 outfits” was always a members only paradise, some of Poptropica’s oldest players will even remember the costume collector item card that allowed for the saving of a simple 3 outfits.

While we do technically already have a “closet” in Poptropica Worlds, it only holds the clothes that we have purchased through the store. When it becomes possible to customize random Poptropicans you meet on your adventures though, how will you save those awesome looks for later?

Whether or not we are able to save more of our looks in the future, I think one thing is clear to everyone: we want more customizing! Right now, we are stuck with whatever look we chose when we first logged in. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m regretting not choosing those rainbow shoes right about now…

Despite these setbacks, we still think Poptropica Worlds has a lot of good features as well as potential for more, as outlined in our last Pop Petition post and our Poptropica Worlds Review. This post isn’t meant to bad mouth the game, but simply to let the Creators know what their fanbase wants.

Hey everyone! Spotted Dragon here with a Poptropica Worlds summer update! And this one comes with a lot of big additions to the game that we’ve been waiting for.

I’ll start off with what everyone will be happy to hear about: the colorizer is here! This is a feature that many of us have missed and it’s one that was even listed in our first Pop Petitions post!

With it, you can color your hair and skin any way you see fit! Just like in Original Poptropica. Once you change colors, you won’t be able to go back to the exact tone you had when you first logged in, unless it’s included in the basic palette we’re provided, but either way this is a big step forward for our customizing possibilities.

The colorizer is located in the closet, but there is one big drawback: only members can pick any color they want. The rest of us can only pick colors from a small color palette. While the addition of the colorizer is great and everything, this puts a damper on the feature for most players.

Talking about changing colors, this isn’t the only update bringing color into our summer (or… not depending on where you live). We also get two new color changing outfits! There is a male and female version, but every player is able to buy both, no matter your gender! That’s great if I do say so myself.

Sadly, many accessories in these outfits are for members only. But they do look pretty cool! A Poptropican in the a full color changing outfit also shows up on Home Island, right outside your door, to tell you about the new things in the store. In addition to these color changing costumes, there are also new summer themed outfits in store! We’ve seen promises for these outfits before, but they haven’t shown up until now.

Crop tops and rompers, huh? These 8 brand new costumes have a very modern look to them. Anyway, all outfits are available to players of any gender too, which I’m glad to see is becoming a norm for Poptropica. Sadly, many of these outfits are completely members only.

I am a bit disappointed about all the membership restrictions, but I do like some of the new accessories. If only we could customize lips/mouths at this point too, right?

Lastly, we have one more summer update to share… a House Expansion! We’ve all seen the locked doors in our house and it’s finally time to unlock one of them. What lies behind the door you ask? A beach themed room, fit for summer! My apologies to those living where it’s not summer at the moment.

Personally, I was expecting these expansions to just be like the main room we already have. I was not expecting an entire theme! Anyway, to get into this room you have to first find the key. No, it’s not hidden somewhere where you’ll have to go on a quest to find it (which is a bit disappointing to be honest). The key is simply located in the Decor Shop, under the (you guessed it) key tab.

After unlocking the room, you also gain access to new beach themed decor! 19 new items should be available to purchase, marked in the store with a blue banner and key symbol. From pineapple wallpaper to windows with a palm tree view, there’s lots of new items to choose from.

Sadly, expansions are for members only. I saw this coming, but it (like the other membership restrictions) is super disappointing. I understand that Poptropica needs membership to earn money (and that membership needs to be worth buying), but I feel like regular players (like myself) are gonna be missing out on a lot.

With these summer updates, many players have been complaining about missing house decor and house resets. Even before this update, missing items have been a problem. But fear not!

According to Poptropica’s Twitter, this issue shouldn’t be a problem any more.

When you wake up, bright and early in the morning, when the promising rays of sun poke through the blinds and into your room, you forget. You forget your not living in a normal home, or that your life could end at any moment. You forget that bombs or weapons could plummet down from such a peaceful sky, ripping you away from those you love. You forget you will never see  your friends, you neighbors, your cousins, even that kid who picked on you in class, ever again. You forget the constant throb in your chest and throat and the flips your heart does too often when you hear a tiny noise. You forget you are living in a war. As  I wake up, I allow myself to absorb the reality- to take in the fact that this is not an ordinary day and that I don’t have to trudge myself over to school. School. I surprisingly miss that demented place- that place where I was a straight D and F student and nothing but disappointment. My thoughts are slowly killing me, so I force myself out of bed. A quick scan of the ripped up hotel room and I already can tell that my parents and the Pietermans were already out on the island. I grab the opportunity to take a shower, turning on the cold water. It was rare every one was out of the room so early. My parents moved to the Amity a month and 2 weeks and 6 days after the the first bombing started so they could help victims  in the hospital. The word choice and descriptions are totally immersive and paint a detailed picture. Not much is known about this fictional world yet, nor its characters or its relation to Poptropica, but it truly is off to a great start. Zeus’s glowing face turned pale as his breath hitched in his throat. The gaze he gave her remained unbroken, and he stared at her for what seemed like an eternity. As much as he tried to deny it, she was there, at the foot of his brilliant golden throne, staring him square in the face after lifting her eyelids, revealing those horrible, beady red eyes.

The gold rays of the heavenly light heavily shone off of the bronze armor plates that capped her shoulders, each pointed off with one aciculate spike. It was as if Zeus was looking at Apollo’s crown, and even he could barely keep his eyes open at the intensity. A strap crossed the goddess’s chest and down to her waist, acting as a holster to his brother’s trident upon her back. There was plain evidence that his other brother contributed to her aid, as his crown sat comfortably upon the mop of her electric blue hair.

Zeus could sense hands trembling on the solid gold coated arm rests of his throne. He clutched the ends of them to the point where they could be crushed from his mighty grip.

To imagine that a god as powerful as Zeus- the KING of gods, if you will- could be frightened of another entity was truly mind-boggling. Zeus was a god; superior to any living, breathing mortals. Who would cause the almighty god of thunder this much of a threat?

Delighted at his fearful reaction, her wide, mocking grin flash across her black lips, then parted to speak the words:

“Did you miss me?” she asked, her voice bringing back such horrible, vivid memories from the past.

This story too has amazing word choice and description. NineTenOnetyOne doesn’t miss a beat, throwing the reader right in the middle of a tense situation. It brings back a fan favorite Poptropican, Zeus, and is a great tale for those interested in Mythology. Each sentence left me on the edge of my seat. And this is just chapter one! Okay guys, I’ll admit it… I’m a sucker for puns and this is adorable. I couldn’t not feature it. Proving that visual art can fit into the “literature” theme, ArtisticAsianBunny references Harry Potter (as I’m sure most of you can tell) by connecting the Ravenclaw house to our beloved Ringmaster Raven. How did we not see this earlier? I feel like he is an underappreciated character and this simple, but magical blue color palette does him justice. Find her DeviantArt here.

Our story begins in a college building on Mocktropica Island where a science teacher can be seen trying to give his class a lecture about neutrons and atoms, but they are too busy playing Mega Fighting Bots to pay him any attention. The science teacher just sighed as he sat down putting down his lesson plan suddenly to the teacher’s surprise a black looking smoke was coming out from his hands and he was freaked out by this. However, the black smoke soon stops coming from his hands and the teacher looks confused as to what just happened. Suddenly, a young lady walks up to him saying “hey brother, what are you doing?” the young lady asks the science teacher. “Sadly nothing, what do you need?” The science teacher asks the young lady revealing that she is his sister.

“I got an invitation to go to an island called Fantasy Island, and I think we should go, what do you think?” His sister asks with glee. “I don’t know Lidia, I’m a science teacher, and I have tons of paper work to do, and I don’t know if the principal will let me take the rest of the week off” The science teacher replied revealing that the lady’s name is Lidia. “I think that I can convince him to let you take the rest of the week off, besides you have been working very hard brother” Lidia says to the teacher smiling. The teacher just smiles as he says, “Yes, I know, but it’s just to keep Mathew in school, things have been hard for him since” The teacher says before he starts to tear up.  “I know Xavier, I know, but you could use a break, and I’ll have someone look after Mathew, alright?” Lidia said revealing that the science teacher’s name is Xavier, and Xavier just smiles as he hugs his sister Lidia.

“Thanks, sister, you’re the best you know” Xavier asks Lidia smiling.  “I know, and I’ll go talk to the principal, so I’ll be right back” Lidia said smiling, and with that Lidia walks off to go talk to the principal. Xavier suddenly clutches his head as a dark voice in his head begins to speak to him in his mind saying, “Embrace your destiny” The dark voice said coming from inside his head. Not as much description as the others, but the plot can really pull you in. Lots of questions are left unanswered thus far in the story and curiosity can really hook a reader. There’s a lot of potential in how the fanfic can go and how it fits into the world of Poptropica, but a bunch of possibilities are already thrown in and this is just chapter one! The Illiad by DanaKelly AKA BeanSkelly

Okay, I have many reasons as to why I featured this piece. First of all, I’m pleasantly surprised by the referenced story! The Illiad is a tale that many of you will most likely read in school (if you haven’t already) and is definitely a classic. Not the expected mainstream dystopian novel! Second of all, the time and effort that Bean put into this drawing is obvious. I remember simply seeing the lineart in a previous month, but the color is just stunning. The perspective is excellently executed and the shading of the neutral tones is breathtaking. Seeing this historic moment in a Poptropica-like style perfectly captures the educational part of the game and how fun it can still be. Find their DeviantArt here and here.

Fashion!

With the Poppies coming to a close recently, almost everyone who was celebrating the event showed up in a dashing, formal outfit. Whether it dress or suit, everyone looked fabulous if I do say so myself. In continuation of this trendy attire, I thought that this would be a great theme! It also gives those who loved making Poptropica outfits, but aren’t artistic in the drawing sense, a time to shine.

Similar to the rules of our literature theme, all costumes will be accepted this month. However, other media is accepted too as long as it relates to fashion! Draw your Poptropican in their classy Poppies outfit or make a stunning pose on the catwalk in the Photo Booth. Create a perfect back to school outfit or write about your Poptropican’s odd experience in the clothing store on Night Watch Island. Didn’t win the Poptropica Costume contest? Send in your old submission for another chance to show it off! The possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

Hello everyone, Spotted Dragon here with another post on Poptropica Worlds! But here’s the twist… Lots of people, including myself, have been focusing on the game’s negative features. While those features shouldn’t be ignored, it really isn’t fair of us to negate all the positive things that Worlds has going for it!

This update has been huge and there is still a long way to go for it, so while we deserve to be skeptical, we also have to look on the bright side. Thankfully, there are still a lot of people looking into every pro and con of Poptropica Worlds, including a newbie interview that provides a very refreshing perspective on the matter.

Without further ado, let’s get into our Pop 5 Best Poptropica Worlds Features!

#5: Houses

Yes, the house brought along its own fair share of glitches. And yes, not everyone was thrilled to hear that they were being added either. Still, the idea has wandered through many minds at one point or another. The dream of a home in Poptropica has been hidden away in the back of Poptropicans’ heads for quite some time.

This feature, like others, has a lot of unused potential as of right now, but it brought something new and exciting to the world of Poptropica. It’s nice to have a building we can each call home. Who doesn’t love personalizing stuff in video games?

#4: The Quest Log

Despite the glitches it currently has, the quest log is actually a pretty cool addition to Poptropica. It gives the player a good idea of how far they’ve gotten through an island and helps to remind us what we have to do next. The latter is especially useful if you’ve been away from the game for quite some time.

Thankfully for us, it doesn’t give away too much of the story-line and doesn’t just give away the solution to any problem faced on your quest. In addition to the quest log, the new dialogue format allows for reading text at your own pace, which used to be a problem. Though it too has its flaws, these kinds of features make for less speed-bumps while you’re gaming!

#3: The Closet

The closet we have now is not like the members only one in original Poptropica, but that doesn’t immediately mean it’s bad. In fact, in many ways it’s very useful! We can’t save outfits like we used to, but everything we buy in the new Store is organized with this feature.

Our old backpack was arranged by date and by alphabetical order, but it was still very hard to find things when the bag was bursting at its seams. At least the closet provides us with easy access to the clothes we bought, since everything is divided into categories. It’s not without glitches yet and when we all get to the point where we have too many clothes to count, there will surely be problems, but in my opinion it’s nice to have pants with pants and shirts with shirts.

#2: Buying Individual Apparel

Not something you notice right away when playing the game, but still a significant change when heading to buy clothes. In the past, Poptropicans have had to spend big bucks on costumes in the store, even if they were only interested in a certain piece of that outfit. Say I liked the shorts on one costume and the shirt of another, I would have to spend a ton of credits on both in the Store.

With the Store’s new setup, you can buy each accessory separately, at a fraction of the entire outfit’s price. I know saying that just makes me sound like an annoying ad, but it really is a big money saver when you want to create a totally unique character design.

That being said, you do have to spend a lot when you do want the whole outfit. Plus, not all facial features are for sale and many things are for members only. It’s also important to point out that you can buy any costume now too, since they aren’t gender specific anymore!

#1: Art Direction

I know, I know, lots of you probably disagree with this one. We are all used to our neckless, fingerless, shoeless old Poptropicans. A lot has changed with our characters’ looks, that’s true, but we can’t deny the artwork’s improvement just because we don’t like some design decisions. Just a glance at the game as a whole reveals how much the design’s quality has been enhanced.

Originally, the game had a very 2D feel to it. While Poptropica Worlds is obviously still a 2D game, the effort put into shading our characters and the detail put into scenes creates a lot more depth than what was previously drawn.

This is especially shown through the animations implemented in our characters, like when they get bored from lack of movement, which gives them a more realistic, life-like feel. It’s shown in the beautiful scenes from Crisis Caverns as well, despite how you may feel towards the island’s storyline.

Anyway, we’ve talking about customization, interacting with friends, glitches, and more, so what could possibly be left? Well, we saw all your feedback and we totally get that Poptropica Worlds still has a lot to live up to. So, let’s get into it!

#1: Item/Power Cards

How could we forget about this? We have a store full of clothes and a store filled with house decor, but there are no items/powers anywhere for purchase! In Original Poptropica, we had gum, balloons, electric powers, followers, and more to choose from.

Currently, there is not even a place where we could go looking to buy items/powers. While these items don’t really help game-play, they were always a cool addition to the ways we could customize our characters. I guess it always comes back around to wanting more customization, huh?

We are already seeing more animation in Poptropica Worlds, such as the little movements our Poptropicans make when idle, and I feel like this attention to animation could make item cards even more exciting. Although, now that I think about it, this will probably just lead to even more lag at our multiverse parties!

#2: Old Cursor

Remember how the old cursor we had in game changed length and color? Well I’m sure you’ve noticed that those features are no longer a part of the cursor in Poptropica Worlds. The movement controls are still the same, but the appearance is slightly different. It may not seem like a big deal, but to some it is a big change.

With the old cursor, the arrow turned green when you would jump, turned blue when you would just walk, and turned yellow when you would crouch. In addition to this, the arrow grew longer the further it was away from your player. Both of these features helped to determine exactly how your character would move and where they would go.

You can move the same way in Poptropica Worlds, but it can often be a bit difficult when you’re trying to land on a small, specific platform. I found myself falling into lava on Crisis Caverns more than once I admit. If the color change and length change were added back, I think that making precise jumps would be much easier. Don’t you agree?

#3: Organized Store

Now here is something that even Original Poptropica didn’t have! A more organized store. In OP and Pop Worlds, costumes (and in OP’s case: item cards) were simply arranged in a single row, usually by date added with some exceptions for holiday features and whatnot.

Having things disorganized makes it very difficult and time consuming to find something specific. It also means that the things in the “back” of the store get viewed and bought less. It’s especially a hassle in Pop Worlds, since only a handful of costumes are shown on one page and you have to wait for new pages to load. We’ve had a similar problem in the past with Poptropica’s backpack too. Players who had tons upon tons of items had a hard time finding things, even though you could organize things alphabetically and by date.

In the future, when Poptropica Worlds expands, organization will certainly become more of a problem. Not only in the house/clothing stores, but in our inventory as well. The solution? Well one idea is simple… a search bar. Another solution? Instead of selling full outfits, maybe have different pages for different accessories. Just some ideas.

#4: Mouth Customization

At this point, no one should be surprised to see we want more customization! Like, seriously. It’s super limited right now. In addition to being stuck with our hair and skin colors, we are also stuck with the mouths that we chose when first logging in.

This isn’t a super big deal if you’re content with the mouth you chose. But what if I feel like classin’ myself up one random day with a little lipstick? What if I’m down in the dumps and have the urge to needlessly express that through an online kids’ game? Welp, I currently can’t put a frown, nor ruby red lips on my Poptropican.

This isn’t the only problem like this that people have come across. Many things that players chose upon first logging in have come back to haunt them in a mildly annoying way. This seems like something that should be easily fixable. I know it’s weird to “store mouths in your closet…” *ahem* but I mean we are already able to store blush and other facial features, so it’s not that big of a stretch.

#5: First Log-in Accessories

This is something that I briefly mentioned while taking about mouth customization. Yes, yes, it’s yet another customizing concern. Like I said before, many people end up wanting to change whatever design they chose when first logging into Poptropica Worlds. However, it doesn’t just have to do with hair color and facial expressions.

Maybe when you logged in, you chose a pair of black shoes that you thought were fitting, huh? But then later, you realized you totally should have chosen those once in a lifetime rainbow kicks! Okay, I might be reflecting my own past decisions when I explain this, but my point is still clear. All those cool clothes, hairstyles, and other accessories are not available anywhere else in the game.

We wouldn’t have as much of a problem if the initial clothes we could chose from also showed up in the store. In Original Poptropica, many of the initial clothes we could chose from showed up in common rooms and on Early Poptropica’s NPC’s. Thus, it was still possible to customize the things we seemingly missed out on. Like a few other things on this petition, it’s not a huge problem but it’s something nice that I think a lot of players would appreciate.

This is super cute, right??? Fashion doesn’t always have to be elegant and expensive to be appealing. Clothes can be stylish and functional! And just like many of our Poptropicans, Friendly Whale here is looking great while being ready to explore new islands. The pastel color scheme is super soft and pleasant to look at. One of the best things about Potpropica is that it’s many islands seem to take us all over the world in our adventures! This specific outfit is based off Nabooti Island, which has our Poptropicans fly all over Africa. Not only is this outfit inspired by the quest, but it is also inspired by a play that the artist was in, based off the African fairy-tale “The New Year Drum.” This simple drawing shows a super cool outfit and proves how we can learn about so many different cultures in our travels! Doodle Dump: Fashion by Criaha

Another super cute drawing! Even though these are just doodles, you can tell that lots of detail and thought was put into each design. The diverse cast of canon characters as well as original ones is shown in a wide range of cool, stylish, modern outfits. The emphasis is definitely on the clothes, but there is still a touch of shading to really make those clothes stand out. I know, I know… not something a ton of people love. But, a lot of people have recently been heading back to class, so it’s an appropriate theme! Write about your Poptropican’s experience at the science fair on Shrink Ray Island, draw your OC asleep at their desk, put together an outfit for Dr. Hare if he were in high school, you name it!

Lots of people in the Poptropica community are kids, so the troubles of school is something we can all easily relate to. As for me, I’m already struggling through my first semester… But anyway, there are lots of things that you could fit into this theme, so get creative!

This cute little comic is something we can all relate to. If you can’t read it, the left panel has our expectations for school, in which the student does their work in class. On the right however is our reality, where the student gets caught playing Poptropica instead! The characters are cute and the humor is perfectly shown. What have we here you ask? Shrunken Mr. Silva is teaching some basic English to Ringmaster Raven while CJ and Edgar watch of course! This drawing is pretty random, but it’s not without its humor. While the situation would never be canon, the simple drawing is still very well executed and I admit, it made me laugh. Education is important kiddos! This sketch may not have a lot of detail, but it sure is relatable. With a lot of Poptropicans in high school by now, it can feel like our school work is constantly looming over us. Honestly, it can feel that way in any grade, I know. Almost like the looming glare of infamous Poptropica villains, right? The emotion and simplicity in this sketch is hilarious. Okay, so I have to confess… Why? Welllllll, those are the only submissions we got this month. That means no honorable mentions, sadly. Still, those drawings totally deserve the spotlight! There weren’t that many, but they were still super cool.

HALLOWEEN!

I mean, were you really surprised? How could we not pick Halloween as the theme! It’s the spoopiest time of the year! I’m a total sucker for autumn aesthetics. Sadly, there is one catch this month: we will not be accepting any costumes! I know, I know, it’s the main part of the holiday! Don’t worry! We just don’t wanna take the spotlight off of the PHB’s annual Halloween Costume Contest. Check it out, because over on that post is where you really get the chance to show off your spooky style.

Sooo… got any ideas yet? Not allowing costumes does limit your creativity a bit, but it doesn’t totally cut off your options! You could create a cool pic in the Photo Booth of your Poptropican trick-or-treating, all dressed up, or you could draw one of your favorite scenes from the Haunted House mini-quest! You could create a scary Poptropica ghost story or even make an entire haunted house yourself in Realms! And remember to submit any costumes you make specifically into the Costume Contest.

Hocus Pocus AU by MissEligon

Hocus Pocus anyone? If you don’t know, it’s a classic Disney Channel Halloween movie (that brings back lots of childhood memories for me) and in this piece, the Sanderson sisters are replaced with our favorite Poptropica brothers. Specifically, it’s a recreation of this scene. This drawing is totally hilarious and well executed! Every time I look at it again, I laugh at a different facial expression. A cute little drawing of some of our favorite villains as kids going trick-or-treating! The Monsters Within by ANNE14TCO

Okay, this is super creepy but super cool. This piece, while not super gory or anything, gives me chills. Totally appropriate for Halloween, but totally dark. It clearly shows how our Poptropicans not only face real villains, but the villains inside themselves as well. The lighting is extremely eerie, setting a perfect mood. Simple but cool! Everyone should love a good Count Bram drawing, right? Since he is a vampire, he is a perfect subject for this spooky season. The lines are smooth and the effects that were used are pretty neat! The addition of texture and lighting in the background really gave the drawing a cherry on top. Definitely a great Halloween card. I see this loophole to include your Poptropican’s costume! But all jokes aside, this is pretty cool and simple! The graveyard background makes for a spooky setting and Green Cheetah looks like she’s ready to go trick-or-treating! Love the color scheme of the costume and I love how that owl just doesn’t care that there’s a ghost right in front of it. Plus, it’s refreshing to have a photobooth submission instead of a drawing! Just goes to show you that you can submit almost anything. Green Cheetah is frequently on Discord, so go friend her!

Honorable Mentions

All of the submissions were super spooky and as someone who is obsessed with Halloween, I loved everything you guys made! From art that was so creepy I had to check under my bed one more time at 3 a.m., to ones that made me go “AWWWW” for a solid minute, you all really got into the spirit of the holiday!

There was a bit of confusion though: We said no submitting costumes, since our annual costume contest accepts those, and CC didn’t want to steal the spotlight. However, drawings that happen to include your Poptropican all dressed up were fine! Sorry about that misunderstanding!

Heartwarming!

For people in the US, November immediately means Thanksgiving. But that’s not the case worldwide! Still, there are other holidays that serve similar purposes and teach similar lessons. Thanksgiving is best known as a time to show what you’re thankful for, get together with family and/or friends, and basically eat yourself into a food coma. Contradicting Halloween, many holidays across the world this time of year focus on loved ones and positivity, so that’s what we’ll do this month too!

Whatever you make, just make it sweet and happy! Lots of things these days make people sad, so why not spread some cheer instead? Draw your Poptropican with all of your friends in the Pop community, make Poptropica outfits that match the people in your IRL family, write a story about a cool adventure with a happy ending… the list goes on! All you gotta do is make me smile.
